The Orange Water and Sewer Authority (OWASA) is a public, non-profit agency providing water, sewer, and reclaimed water services to the Carrboro-Chapel Hill community. We are seeking a highly motivated, detail oriented Administrative Assistant to join our successful team.
This technically savvy individual should have outstanding time management skills and the proven ability to organize resources to efficiently deliver support. Candidates must be extremely dependable, creative, and forward thinking. The ideal candidate is a team player with an excellent work ethic, adaptability, and the desire to work in a collaborative fast-paced environment. Must have a service-oriented attitude, professional demeanor and able to successfully handle multiple tasks at once.
Position provides administrative and technical support to the Administration and Engineering departments. Duties include assembling Board agendas electronically, drafting meeting summaries, preparing mass mailings, and other correspondence as needed and is the contact for reserving OWASA’s Community Room calendar. Maintains the electronic and physical filing systems to include retention, retrieval, and destruction. Supports staff with the logistics (room setup, documents, and food) for meetings, trainings, and special events.
Minimum requirements include a high school diploma with one to three years of experience in an administrative supporting role. Requires above average skills with Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, and Adobe Acrobat. Valid North Carolina Class C driver’s license required. Work hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Experience with appointed boards, website posting (WordPress), and North Carolina Notary Public is a plus.

Salary range is $34,897 - $53,742.
